Things that are just nuts...

Society, and especially the fashion sector, is in dire need of a rectocranial extraction. I've grumbled for years about how unrealistic modern standards of "beauty" are, and today I stumbled upon a case that really illustrates it.

Take Czech model Karolina Kurkova. Lovely blonde, 5'11, 130lb, according to her wiki entry.

She's been criticized as being "too fat". Pardon my language, but WTF???

You look at older generations notions of beauty queens, such as Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, or Betty Grable, and they would all be considered far too heavy these days. Whatever happened to women looking like...well, women? Real women, with natural curves...not sticks with surgically implanted bumps on their chests. It really is insane.

Although perhaps not all is bad...saw an article yesterday saying that research indicates that being pear-shaped may be good for your health. Yay for those of us, with, um, "childbearing hips". Maybe Queen and Sir Mix-a-lot had the truth of it.

So, fickle and unrealistic fashion industry...take that yardstick you're holding up as a standard of beauty and....go find your head. You'll find it at the southern end of your alimentary canal.
