One thing after another...to 101

I've been seeing a number of folks starting a "Do 101 things in 1001 days" plan, which seems like a pretty neat idea. As my close friends and family (and probably astute readers of my blog) know, I am very much a list person, and so I've decided to join in the fun.

Being myself, however, I had a bit of difficulty coming up with 101 tasks! I discovered a tendency to put "big" tasks, and not being gifted with any sort of timestop ability or gadget, there was not even a remote possibility of completing 101 such. So I had to start thinking smaller, and yesterday I finally completed my list.

And now, for your viewing pleasure (or cure for insomnia, if you prefer), my "101 Things" list. Updates will be tracked on a separate page, reachable through the button on my sidebar.

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities

Start Date: 26 July 2006
End Date: 23 April 2009
Days Remaining: 1001 days
Key:Task completed!
