WIPocalypse now - May update

It's May, it's May, the lusty month of May...
(*ahem*)

It's also time for another WIPocalypse update. As stated last month, Convent Herbal Garden saw no time this past lunar cycle, as I'm mainly concentrating on Nativity until Pentecost, which this year is on the 27th of this month. So watch for an update next time.

In the meantime, I got to 66 hours on Marbek Nativity:

I did misspeak last time - the previous update was 51 hours, not 46. At only 15 hours of update over the past month, this is still proceeding at a snail's pace. Although truth be told, the main reason for this is that I've chosen to time this piece, and therefore only work on it when I'm likely to get slices of uninterrupted time.

I do tend to multitask my stitching with other things such as gaming or TV, and work on untimed stitching during those times. Which is why this month sees the finish of Needle Delights "Amethyst":

This was actually more colorful than the model picture indicated - the variations of color in the Waterlilies 'Bark' and 'Amethyst' were an unexpected treat.

I hadn't decided which canvaswork piece to pick up when I finished Amethyst a week ago, so I've started this sassy little fellow:
Teresa Wentzler - Needle Guardian

Some of you may recognize even this small bit of progress as Teresa Wentzler's "Needle Guardian". I'm doing him on Silkweaver "Castle View" 32ct Lugana. He's working up rather quickly, too, so certainly expect him to be finished by next update.

In other stitching news, while I don't usually participate in Stitchalongs because of the unpredictability of my available free time, I've actually decided to join two. One is for Papillon Creation's "Around the World in 80 Stitches", and the other is for a complex canvaswork piece - "Stars for a New Millenium" by Tony Minieri. Several of us are planning on beginning "Stars" in October, to give all of us a time to choose and acquire our materials. The first part of the "80 Stitches" SAL has been released already, although I haven't started yet.

Both of these SALs have a duration of 24 months, which should give me plenty of time to play catch-up where I need to, or at least make decent progress. Once the WIPocalypse is over, I'll still try to keep up with monthly updates on those...along with whatever else I'll be working on.

I am going to start Around the World in about 2 weeks. Just waiting for there to be budget to get the things I want to get for it. I loved her last few SALs, so I am eager to start this one too. :-)

I love looking at your Nativity pics. But, I'm not tempted to start it...yet. I *may* have decided on my overdyed for Stars. I am SO looking forward to that SAL.

Congrats on finishing Amethyst! It's GORGEOUS...I had to hold onto my eyes to keep them from popping right out of my head! =D
