Still alive...

Rumours of my blog-demise (if there have been any) have been greatly exaggerated. I'm still here, just not blogging anywhere near as much as I used to. I just realized it's been over 4 months since my last entry.

What do I have to report? Not much, really. Since finishing Heirloom Christmas, I've been focusing my attention on Passione Ricamo's _Once Upon a Time_, which is shaping up quite well.

I also designed a biscornu around Easter - not sure why I never blogged it, but here it is: Peepscornu.


In other news, I just got back from vacation in Virginia, reinforcing that if I can't have Wales, I'll retire to Virginia instead.

As always with travel, I picked up my reading again. My literary choices:

As I Was Saying: A Chesterton Reader - Robert Knille, ed. I've been reading this intermittently on the exercise bike for the past couple months, and I finished it this trip. A very nice sampling of GK Chesteron's work, comprising some of his poetry, some of his essays, and quotes from his longer works.

The Scarlet Lion - Elizabeth Chadwick The sequel to The Greatest Knight, her historical novel about William Marshal. Both of these were very good reads - historically accurate, with characters that come alive. Not quite as heavy a read as Sharon Kay Penman (another historical novelist I love), but a far cry better than a particular well-known historical novelist who tends to write about the Tudors...but I digress.

The Canterbury Tales - Burton Raffel, trans. I actually started this shortly after returning from Rome last year, but it languished on my nightstand while I pursued needlecraft. It's an enjoyable, fairly easy to read translation, and reading an unabridged version lets you see some of the dynamics between the pilgrims. I'm not completely finished, but I did read 400 pages (of 600) on the plane on the way home.

Not much to add at this point. Life is busy but not in a noteworthy way, so I'll close for now.
