My apologies for being blogquiet the past week - I've been busier than ... a one-armed paper hanger, one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest... <insert phrase of choice here>. I finally stitched last night for the first time all week.
Most of this week has gone to our Parish Mission. Well worth the time spent - we had a Passionist come in and give a set of talks in the evenings. Fr. Vincent was quite engaging, and I got a lot of food for thought out of it.
Thursday evening we had a prior engagement - a semi-formal social that was part of a fundraiser for our parish - so we went to the mission in the morning. The social in the evening was actually pretty fun, and the food and wine were good. I did feel a little bit outclassed - the social was held in the swankiest part of town, where the million-dollar homes are. But the folks were very nice. And we got to meet our bishop, who seems to be a pretty down-to-earth fellow.
Friday and Saturday were mostly cleanup and other domestic issues - I finally took down all the Christmas decorations, and we cleaned up the house since we were expecting one of our priests for dinner last night. Turns out we had a miscommunication and Fr. M thought it was on for next week. So far we're 2 for 2 on mishaps for hosting priests for dinner - a few weeks ago Fr. E got confused and came a week early! In retrospect that's probably just as well - DD and DsD have both been sick this weekend.
So that brings us up to today. And it's blissfully non-busy - my grand plans are watching football and stitching. I'm not optimistic about being able to finish Last Supper by Easter. If my current progress is any indicator, I'd need to stitch about 20 hours a week to meet that goal, and I can't realistically see that happening. I'll do my best, though.
A window into the life of a professional geek, wife and mother (and nonni), stitcher/designer, bibliophile, old-school gamer, and whatever other roles she finds herself in.
